I have enjoyed taking pictures since I was a teen. In my thirties I spent several years working for a print shop developing film, making halftones and working on the presses. I was fascinated with the process and enjoyed seeing various photographers bring in their work. Shortly after that, I received my first 35mm camera, as a gift, and put together a black and white darkroom in a closet. I now have the opportunity to study photography full-time with experienced teachers, and a group of students who challenge and inspire me. Where do I envision myself in the future? So far, my favorite areas are documentary, photojournalism and landscape. Together, photography and writing give me an chance to express some of my ideas in a new and exciting way. Where that will lead, I’m not sure yet!
